Dr.-Ing. Gerhard Bartscher, Dipl.-Phys.
Gerhard Bartscher is the founder of the company and the initiator of the project. Having spent part of his childhood in Africa, he encountered Malaria first-hand. He studied physics at RWTH Aachen. This is also where he received his doctorate in electrical engineering. Until 2015 he worked in the R&D departments of various companies specializing in digital printing, He is considered one of the leading developers in this field worldwide. He also owns/co-owns over 30 patents and has authored/co-authored a number of scientific publications.
Dr.-Ing. Klaus-J. Riffelmann, Dipl.-Ing.
Klaus-Jürgen Riffelmann studied mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen and received his doctorate from the German Aerospace Institute and RWTH Aachen. He has been involved in research and development of renewable energy technology for more than 25 years. As a co-owner of the patent for mosquito control, he has advised the Bartscher innovation team from the very start.
Dr. rer. nat. Dilege Gülmez, M. Sc. Phys
Modelling and simulation
Dilege Gülmez is one of the physicists of the Bartscher innovation team. He graduated at the university of Bonn with his masters in physics and received his doctorate on the development of a new model in effective quantum field theories there as well. As a proven modelling expert, he is mostly involved with the software development aspect of the project, specifically acoustic detection. He also joins in the daily laboratory work which he considers a new and dynamic experience. He likes the creative and challenging aspects of getting involved in the set-up of new experiments in order to understand the nature of devices and phenomena.
Paul Barmsen, M. Sc. Mechanical Eng.
Design and Engineering
Paul Barmsen is a tried and tested product developer who gained his experience in the automotive industry. Holding a B.Eng. Mechanical Engineering from Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg and an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the TH Cologne he has an open mindset and has gathered considerable start-up experience in various areas. Sustainability and responsible resource management are his key values. He wants to make a lasting contribution for the future of society, this is why he joined the Bartscher innovations team.
Viktor Dirks, Dipl.-Phys.
Software and Electronics
Viktor Dirks studied physics at the Institute for Applied Physics at the Johann Wolfgang von Goethe University in Frankfurt Main. Afterwards he worked for various companies in the field of research and development in very diverse and different subject areas. His main areas of expertise are microtechnology/nanotechnology, micro-assembly, additive manufacturing, microfluidics/paste dispensing, laser applications, image processing and AI developments.
Dennis Pohl, B.Eng.
Dennis Pohl has completed a B.Eng. in automotive engineering from TH Cologne and is currently continuing with an M.Sc. in machine engineering at the TH Cologne. He has undertaken placements in larger companies and is currently supporting the Bartscher Innovations team in the daily laboratory routines.
